Our Day Nursery focuses on positive associations with physical, social and mental wellbeing within the Early Years Foundation Stage. Exercise, healthy eating and care for the environment play a significant role in the children’s weekly activity curriculum. Each week, all children will have the opportunity to engage in energetic play, from baby yoga and creative movement to sports-based activities in outdoor areas or purpose-built studio. The social and mental wellbeing areas are advocated by highly qualified staff providing everyday care, support and encouragement to help children reach important milestones that are imperative to future development and learning.
A rich language-based environment is provided where each child is encouraged to express themselves and freely explore their abilities in communication.
The other four areas of children’s development are:
- Expressive Arts and Design
- Understanding the World
- Literacy
- Mathematics
All are covered weekly as part of Our Day Nursery following the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our Day Nursery commits to working closely with children who require additional support, providing a pivotal link between them, their families, and the authorities to ensure early intervention is activated. The Nursery Manager fully embraces the Early Years Foundation Stage, Schooling System and parents' support in applying for the desired school places. A full breakdown of the proposed curriculum and planned activities can be made available on request.
Our Active Participation Promise
Children’s Nursery Association
A selection of children from each age group are invited to meet monthly with the Nursery Manager, where they will be able to answer questions around the following questions:
- What do you like about the nursery?
- What would you change?
- What would you like to have/add?
This feedback contributes to a feeling of inclusivity and empowerment, making children feel involved in the evolution of THEIR nursery.
Parent Nursery Association
At Our Day Nursery, we pride ourselves on maintaining positive and effective relationships with our parents and carers.
We hold regular Parent Nursery Association (PNA) meetings with self-nominated parent representatives. The purpose of the PNA is to give parents a voice, to feel supported, and encouraged to contribute their views and ideas. They will help organise various fund-raising and social events. It provides a great way to get parents involved in the nursery and meet new people.
Taking care of our environment
Our Day Nursery teaches children the importance of taking care of their environment by actively engaging in recycling, litter picking walks and not using single-use plastics. The garden provides a vegetable patch and a planting area, which will introduce an element of forest and Montessori schooling. This weekly activity will also assist in educating the children about healthy eating.
